Gily komt uit Suriname, Paramaribo. Van zijn 12e tot zijn 16e studeert hij er kunst aan de Nola Hatterman Art Academy. Als 17 jarige jongen verhuist hij naar Nederland. Het maken van kunst zorgde bij Gily voor rust in zijn hoofd en het is zijn uitlaatklep.
