Meet Carlo, designer of the Helping Hand Sock

Carlo (52) was born and raised in Utrecht. He has been drawing for as long as he can remember. His recognisable style with many faces often emerges from feeling and intuition.

"I just do what feels right."

In 2003, Carlo came into contact with Atelier Spat through his supervisor. During an open day at UMC Utrecht, his supervisor saw a stall from the studio and immediately thought of him. Carlo decided to make contact and thus found his way to the creative workshop.

Since then, Atelier Spat has become an important place for him.

"Spat is a great place to develop my creativity and gain inspiration. It gives me a good feeling to be here. The atmosphere is pleasant and it motivates me to be creative."

Carlo usually comes to the studio once or twice a week. There he works on his drawings and develops new ideas. Especially the many faces in his work have become characteristic.

For his design for Let's Do Goods, Carlo was inspired by what Tussenvoorziening stands for: offering a helping hand to everyone who needs it. This idea formed the basis for the Helping Hand Sock.

The result is a design that revolves around connection, support, and attention for each other. Values that not only fit Tussenvoorziening, but also the mission of Let's Do Goods. Carlo likes that his design is not only worn, but also directly means something for another person.

"It's wonderful that for every pair sold, a pair of socks is also donated."

With the Helping Hand Sock, you not only wear a special design, but also a story about creativity, inspiration, and being there for each other.
