Her Story

Stefanie has a special bond with swallows – a bond that is deeply intertwined with her own story.

During difficult times in her life, when everything could feel dark and heavy, these little birds kept recurring in her work. Unconsciously, they simply had to appear whenever she started painting. For Stefanie, they symbolized hope, freedom, and the release of emotions that held her captive. They gave her a sense of lightness and made heavy thoughts a little lighter and more bearable.

Since her parents moved to Portugal, the swallow has taken on even more meaning for her. There, you see ceramic swallows on the facade of almost every house – they are a traditional symbol of happiness and protection. The idea that these birds can mark a home as something warm and safe deeply touched her.

Therefore, Stefanie absolutely wanted to incorporate swallows into this design. They represent light in dark days, leaving behind what you no longer need and taking with you what is valuable. And maybe – if you wear them around your feet – they will bring you a little hope, freedom and happiness too.
