Artist Miek Knook
Miek became homeless at the age of 19 due to an unsafe home situation. She stayed with friends and acquaintances, she was a "couchsurfer" as it is called.
At school, she walked around with a large shopper bag. To classmates, she told them she was staying or going to do something fun on the weekend. In reality, her whole house was in that bag. So couchsurfing is the theme of the sock she designed for us.
Miek now lives in a home of her own again and works at The Living Museum in Leeuwarden. Here she continues to develop herself as an artist of portraits and surrealistic paintings.
