Artist Patric with his dog Luna

Kunstenaar Patric met zijn hond Luna

Patric arrived in Amsterdam from Germany on June 8, 2000. At Amsterdam Central Station, he said goodbye to his German passport. Since then, his life has been a journey—one filled with challenges, but also with a profound positive impact on others.

He wandered through the city, spending his first years by the bridge, making contact with people. He slept in tents and later built a small hut in the bushes. Today, Patric is a caregiver and has a room of his own.

Patric is always accompanied by his dogs—first Grizly, now Luna. They have inspired the designs for these socks. Many people without a permanent home have a dog; it’s their loyal companion. A dog’s love is unconditional—you are part of their pack. They take care of you, through thick and thin. Patric’s dogs go everywhere with him. Even Eberhard van der Laan was surprised when Patric showed up with his furry friend.

As the founder of the Homeless Union in 2011, Patric has dedicated himself even more to helping others. His commitment is immense, born from his own experiences. This initiative has grown into an active organization with many volunteers, most of whom have also experienced homelessness. Everyone in the Homeless Union is part of Patric’s pack—he stands by them no matter what. Thanks to Patric, the Homeless Union now supports over 400 people per year.
