Artist Kirby
Kirby was born in beautiful Jajce in the center of the former Yugoslavia. He had a problematic childhood and grew up in an orphanage.
At school he was already known by teachers for his drawing talent, but school life in general didn't have his attention as much.
When he was 18, he had to leave the orphanage and Kirby ended up on the streets. Addiction to alcohol and drugs kept him from getting his life together.
His wandering existence in which he travelled across the country for work was abruptly ended by the brutal war. At the age of 26 he fled to the Netherlands and eventually ended up in Zierikzee.
Fighting his addictions, painting eventually offered a glimmer of hope in his recovery.
