As a 7-year-old he met Picasso with his grandmother and this was only the beginning of a turbulent life that reads like a book. In 1981 Andrzje fled from Poland to Amsterdam. He created a furore as a fashion model, traded in art, had his own line of jewellery and owned a stable of Arabian thoroughbred horses. He lived a jet-set existence in the upper circles. As an artist, he worked in New York with Andy Warhol and was taught by Karel Willink. After this enervating jetset life where he flourished also as a donor to The Salvation Army, he suddenly became a client of The Salvation Army due to circumstances. This fall Andrzej now calls his return to earth. From his 12th till his 16th he studies art at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy. As a 17-year-old boy he moved to the Netherlands. Making art provided Gily with peace of mind and it is his outlet. But after his arrival in the Netherlands, making art faded into the background, he no longer touched paper and paint. Making fast money and partying were his new outlets and this wild lifestyle eventually became his downfall. He went downhill, lost his home and had to find himself again. Through the Salvation Army, Gily came into contact with the Nico Adriaans Foundation through which he is slowly getting his life back on track. He picks up making art again in order to use it, as he says himself, to \"paint away his short fuse.\" Making art is finding your own path because you have to develop your own style. This quest helped him find the right path again. Since 2016, Gily has been a regular and welcome guest at Via Kunst. Via Kunst is the studio in Rotterdam that we work with. Meanwhile, he has been allowed to exhibit in the Zuidplein theater and the Rotterdam Museum, among others. A next step in his big dream is to one day be able to work from his own studio. Birds are a recurring subject in Gily's work. For him, the bird symbolises freedom. This eventually proved decisive for the further course of her life. Psychological complaints developed, often hidden from the outside world, and caused Jonna to enter a treatment program. At the age of 43 she was able to free herself from psychiatry, a world in which she had felt misunderstood for many years. In her own strength, she managed to look forward and search for passions that would give her purpose. Her dog played a big role and Scandinavia is another one of those passions. Photography and photo editing (like on this sock), are now her main passions. He decided to attend art school alongside his work and slowly art took an important place in his life. David divorced his wife and due to other various circumstances during this turbulent time, he becomes homeless. Art was his foothold and helped him work on his recovery. He is always working to become a more complete artist. This 27-year-old artist with African roots has the ambition to become a fashion designer, despite his troubled life, or maybe because of it. Being homeless and all the stress that comes with it are tough on anyone. Art challenges and helps him visualise his emotions. For Patju, making art works as inspiration for his designs and ideas in fashion. This artwork showing colourful African masks symbolises his roots in colourful Africa. A battle against alcohol that has been going on for years is one of between life and death. But which has now come to an end thanks to addressing the root of the problem with the help of inpatient and outpatient intensive treatments. He decorated Het Inloopschip with a huge mural that also features the bell of St. John, the icon of Den Bosch. He painted this clock at half past nine, the time you had to be inside to spend the night in Het Inloopschip.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eHe picked himself up, turned down real help, full of ambition and confidence he tried to stand on his own two feet again. He began to paint and draw more and became curious in tattooing. Unfortunately, it was too soon for him to leave and he ended up in Het Inloopschip again. This time, however, he was open to getting help and was paired with a very inspiring counselor, his wingman.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eThe limitations of Het Inloopschip oppressed him. Sleeping inside was mandatory to qualify for help. The negative energy of other residents as well as the restriction of his freedom made this impossible for Jarno. His wingman understood this and gave him permission to sleep in a tent, free outside under the starry sky. With help and an inexhaustible drive to get his life on track, Jarno once again managed to escape from homelessness. His wandering existence in which he travelled across the country for work was abruptly ended by the brutal war. At the age of 26 he fled to the Netherlands and eventually ended up in Zierikzee.
